G.E.T. Outdoors Winter Excursion: Snowshoeing at Pigeon Creek Park - Winter 2026

Girls ages 8–18 are invited to join G.E.T. Outdoors for a winter snowshoeing excursion at Pigeon Creek Park in partnership with Ottawa County Parks. This guided experience is open to all skill levels and will explore the park’s winter trails while building confidence and connection outdoors.

The program takes place on Friday, February 20 from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM. The $10 registration fee includes snowshoe rental if needed. Participants should dress warmly and wear layers that are easy to remove and carry in a backpack.

  • Does my child need their own snowshoes?: No - Pigeon Creek Park has a vast selection of snowshoes that participants can borrow and rental fee is included in registration.
  • What if we've never been snowshoeing?: No worries! Snowshoeing is great exercise but it's very beginner friendly. Plus, with two guides, we are able to split up into groups based on experience or trail length so everyone has a positive experience.
  • Can parents join?: The idea for this program is that the girls connect together through the outdoor recreation experience but it is a public park so if parents have their own snowshoes/cross country skis and would like to use the trails, they are welcome to enjoy the park. The lodge will not be open during our excursion as this is a special event so rentals will not be available to the general public.
  • What should we wear/bring?: Dress in layers. Base layers should be synthetic or wool (avoid cotton). Add a warm mid-layer like a hoodie or sweater and a winter coat for outer layer. Wear snow pants or insulated pants, warm socks, winter boots, hat, and waterproof gloves. Bring a small backpack (not drawstring) with a water bottle, and a healthy snack to keep fueled up.
