In partnership with Lakeshore Kayak Rental, NORA introduces kids ages 7+ to the fun of kayaking and canoeing in a safe, supportive environment. Beginners can learn paddling basics and water safety, while more experienced paddlers can join adventures exploring local parks and waterways. Launched in Summer 2025, this exciting partnership now offers paddlesports classes in the spring, summer, and fall—giving kids the chance to build confidence, develop skills, and enjoy the beauty of Michigan’s lakes and rivers from a whole new perspective.
Ready to try kayaking for the first time — or build confidence on the water? Youth Intro to Kayaking is the perfect starting point for young paddlers! Participants will learn basic kayaking skills while exploring calm local waterways, playing games, swimming, and gaining comfort in their boats. With supportive instruction and plenty of fun mixed in, kids will develop paddling skills, water confidence, and a love for being outdoors. No prior kayaking experience needed — just come ready to paddle and have fun! This camp will meet M-Th 10am - 11:30am - Monday & Tuesday will be at Pottawattomie Park then Wednesday & Thursday will be at Lakeshore Kayak Rental in Spring Lake. Each day brings a new destination as participants paddle sections of the Grand River, bayous, and lakes while building endurance, improving technique, and discovering local waterways from a whole new perspective. If your child loves adventure, exploration, and time on the water, this is the ultimate summer paddling experience. Combine paddling and fishing for the ultimate outdoor summer experience! Canoe Fishing Camp gives young anglers the chance to explore Lloyd’s Bayou while learning fishing techniques from the water. Participants will paddle canoes, cast lines, and enjoy peaceful mornings searching for fish (and snapping plenty of catch-and-release photos!). Whether kids are experienced anglers or still learning, this camp offers a fun, relaxed way to build skills, confidence, and outdoor memories.
