Girls Exploring Together (G.E.T.) Outdoors

NORA Girls Exploring Together (G.E.T.) Outdoors is a program designed to help girls build confidence, form friendships, and explore the natural world in a supportive and encouraging environment. Through activities like hiking, kayaking, geocaching, archery, and fishing and more, participants discover new skills and the joy of being active outdoors. Led by NORA’s Recreation Program Coordinator, Jackie Rowland, G.E.T. Outdoors is all about creating memorable experiences that inspire a lifelong love of nature while connecting with other adventurous girls.

G.E.T. Outdoors Special Excursion - Snowshoeing with Ottawa County Parks & Recreation

G.E.T. Outdoors Winter Excursion: Snowshoeing at Pigeon Creek Bundle up and experience the beauty of winter with G.E.T. Outdoors! This special winter excursion invites girls ages 8–18 to explore the snowy trails of Pigeon Creek Park through a guided snowshoeing adventure in partnership with Ottawa County Parks. Participants of all experience levels are welcome — no prior snowshoeing experience needed. Groups will be led by Ms. Jackie (NORA) and Ms. Tabitha (Ottawa County Parks) for 1–1.5 hours of snowshoeing while enjoying the quiet splendor of the woods in winter.

Participants should dress warmly and wear layers that are easy to remove and carry in a backpack as they warm up on the trail. This program is designed to build confidence, connection, and a love of being outdoors — even in winter!

G.E.T. Outdoors Spring 2026

Spring G.E.T. Outdoors invites girls to explore, connect, and build confidence through outdoor adventure. This four-week program features archery, biking, hiking, and kayaking at some of West Michigan’s favorite outdoor spaces. Designed for all experience levels, G.E.T. Outdoors creates a welcoming environment where girls are encouraged to try new activities, support one another, and discover what they’re capable of outdoors. It’s more than a program — it’s a community.
