Youth Kayaking - Summer 2026

Give your child a summer adventure on the water!

In partnership with Lakeshore Kayak Rental, we are able to offer these kayaking camps at a reasonable rate with kayaks, paddles and lifejackets included. 

Class Offering - Summer 2026

Intro to Kayaking (ages 7 - 13 with little or no paddling experience)

June 22 - 25 - Pottawattomie Park (Mon/Tue) & Lakeshore Kayak Rental (Wed/Thu)

10am - 11:30am

Kayak Adventure Camp (ages 8-18 with some paddling experience either by themselves or with an adult)

July 13 - 16 - Mon: Pottawattomie Park to East End Park, Tue: Connor Bayou to Pottawattomie Park, Wed: East End Park to Lakeshore Kayak Rental & Thurs: Little Black Lake in Norton Shores

10am - 12pm

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can we bring our own kayak?: Yes - kayaks are provided for anyone who wants one at no extra charge but if you have your own and would like to bring it, you are welcome to do so.
  • What should I wear?: Wear sunscreen. Dress for the weather in comfortable clothing. It tends to be warmer on the water so many kids wear a bathing suit under a tshirt/shorts. Wear shoes that can get wet or water shoes/crocs are perfect. Did I mention it's important to wear sunscreen? Hat/sunglasses are recommended but if you wear sunglasses, put a floating string on them in case they fall off. Also - sunscreen.
  • Do I need to wear a lifejacket?: Yes - we can provide them if you do not have your own but lifejackets are important for everyone regardless of swimming ability/paddling experience.
  • What should I bring?: No electronics unless you have a dry bag or a waterproof case for them. They will get wet even if you plan to carry them. A towel is always helpful for after paddling or if we stop to go swimming. Bring a water and snacks are also welcome.
